Help To Prevent Accidents When Working At Height

Accidents can be prevented, if the correct procedures are in place:

Tips to help To Prevent Accidents When Working At Height

  • Undertake a risk assessment to work out the hazards associated with each task involving working at height.
  • Avoid the need for working at height by completing work from ground level with the aid of extendable tools and equipment. If this is not possible then think about how best to prevent a fall from happening.
  • Segregate vehicles from work at height activities by using fixed barriers Coordinate vehicles and work at height activity to take place at different times.
  • Check that you have planned the work properly and that there is a safe system of work in place for workers to follow Ensure that working at height is supervised by a competent person, who has knowledge of the risks involved.
  • Train workers in the use of work-at-height equipment and safety measures Discuss the contents of your risk assessment, including the importance of implementing the controls provided to reduce identified risks.
