We start with a stage 1 audit to see how you are complying, if there are any potential issues or nonconformances they will usually be found at this stage. Then there will be the Stage 2 audit when we effectively audit your whole system, report on your compliance and issue your certificate.

Obtaining SSIP as part of your UKAS ISO 45001 Certification

Health and safety certification displays a structured approach and established appropriate controls to prevent and reduce the potential for workplace accidents and incidents. It also shows that you are compliant with current health and safety legislation. Providing assurance to your supply chain that you are working in a safe manner. Furthermore assuring your employees that you are protecting them from harm.

SSIP in addition to ISO 45001 certification provides additional assurance for industry-specific customers that you are complying with your duties.

This is of particular importance in the construction, demolition,  good and services (where on-site visits are being conducted) industries.

If you have been assessed for health and safety by any one of the member schemes registered to SSIP you may then be able to deem to satisfy the same element of another member scheme. This in turn can result in obtaining certification at a reduced cost, with less paperwork and audit time.

You can visit the SSIP website for a full deem to satisfy chart.

Once you have obtained SSIP you will be registered on the SSIP portal. The portal can be accessed at any time, and can be used by your supply chain to verify your accreditation.

Who could benefit from obtaining SSIP?

Companies of all sizes can obtain SSIP, there are no restrictions.

Some of the industries that could benefit from obtaining SSIP are Contractors, subcontractors, construction, building firms, architects, demolition specialists, civil engineers/surveyors, designers and many more.

ISO 45001 is the Occupational Health & Safety Management System Standard set by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).

ISO 45001 OHSMS Certification will allow your company to demonstrate how you are dedicated to workplace safety. In addition to ensuring your company is compliant with the latest safety regulations, ISO 45001 can drive better health and safety practices within your organisation. Ensuring that absence caused by slips, trips, or accidents is kept to a minimum. ISO 45001 also provides a framework for continual improvement.

ISO 45001 Certification is a process whereby a third-party organisation (such as Interface) comes into your organisation and compares the processes you have in place to the framework of the 45001 Standards requirements.

In order to obtain ISO 45001, you will firstly need to have in place a set of processes that form a system which matches the framework for an Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) as laid out in the ISO 45001 Standard. The way in which you implement an OHSMS can vary.

  1. Employ a consultant.

This is by far the simplest way to get started. A Consultant will come in, evaluate what you do and don’t have already in place, and put together an OHSMS tailored to your organisation and meeting the requirements of the Standard. Give the Sales Team a call today and we can send you over a list of recommended consultants we know and trust!

  1. Gap Analysis

A Gap Analysis would take place prior to your certification audits. Giving us a chance to review your systems and highlight any gaps and give you some impartial advice on how you could close those gaps.

You will be provided with a full gap analysis report which you can take away and use towards your system development.
