We are observing World Wetlands Day! Our wetlands across the globe need to be protected from drainage. Wetlands are integral to protecting us against the effects of natural disasters and extreme weather, but many are being drained to build housing, mismanaged to create fish farms, or polluted by industrial waste. It’s important that we recognise the importance of these wetlands – luckily they can be recreated easily, and in much less time than other vital habitats such as ancient forests and jungles.
