Migration from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001

Migration from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001

This week Neil has been calling all of our current OHSAS 18001 Clients. He has been calling about the migration from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001, which should happen prior to the 11th March 2021.

After this date, OHSAS 18001 will cease to exist so unless you have transferred over, unfortunately, your certification will no longer be valid.

IAF MD 21:2018

IAF MD 21:2018 is the mandatory document which outlines the requirements for the migration to ISO 45001:2018 from OHSAS 18001:2007.

As part of the requirements within this document, we will be required to carry out a minimum of 1 auditor man-day in addition to your normal audit cycle.

This day will be used to cover existing and new requirements implied by ISO 45001:2018.

What is ISO 45001:2018?

This standard assists organisations to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions.

It follows other generic management system approaches such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

What are the benefits of implementing a health and safety standard in your business?

Demonstrates that you are committed to health and safety requirements.

It is the most reliable way of demonstrating compliance in this area, in tender documents and pre-qualification questionnaires.

Recognises and regulates health and safety risks.

Reduces risks to employees and also external visitors.

Can lead to a reduction in insurance costs.

Certification can enhance your reputation, and as a result, attracts new customers to your organisation.
