ISO 18404 Launch Event

ISO 18404:2015 Launch

Interface NRM attended the launch of the new ISO 18404:2015. Working in partnership with the Royal Statistical Society, Interface will be part of the team developing the new Sector Scheme, which will enable individuals and companies, to become certified to the new standard, which will demonstrate competency in operating Lean and Six Sigma approaches.

ISO 18404:2015 standard is designed to define the required competencies for individuals and organisations in Six Sigma, Lean, and “Lean and Six Sigma”. This International Standard will use the term “Lean and Six Sigma” to avoid ambiguity in the various terms currently used. Until ISO 18404 there has been no standard designed to equate what is required by an organisation, or what confirms a Black Belt.

To put this into simpler terms, if a company advertises a Six Sigma Black Belt or any other belt, how can they trust, or confirm the capability of a “Black Belt” for example? If a provider states that it employs Six Sigma or Lean, how can a customer be confident of their actual abilities? It is a basic motivation of this ISO Standard to aid in answering these questions and concerns.

If you would like to find out more about ISO 18404:2015 you can visit the ISO Website, or get in touch, we would be happy to help.
