COVID-19, the environment and sustainability

What is the connection between COVID-19, the environment, and sustainability?

Before COVID-19

Prior to COVID-19, you may recall having seen articles, publications with regards to carbon emissions?

At the time there were many questions being asked about how we could reduce this, due to the impact on our planet.

COVID-19

When COVID-19 hit our radars this then got put onto the back burner.

However inadvertently this then had a positive impact on our carbon emissions.

Planes weren’t flying, cars were not being driven, trains were off the tracks. This led to a huge reduction in carbon emissions.

What happens post-pandemic?

I think that there is a concern that things will just go back to the way they were. In fact, there is a level of concern that it will increase due to companies ‘making up for lost time’.

However, we have found many more companies approaching us for certification, to show that this has had a positive impact on their business.

Certification for environmental impacts and sustainability

The main certifications we offer for environmental impacts and sustainability are UKAS ISO 14001:2015, FSC® and PEFC

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard for Environmental Management.

It shows that you practice effective and efficient management of environmental risks.

FSC® and PEFC

Both of these certifications are very quickly becoming a requirement for any company that wishes to display a responsible approach to purchasing wood or fibre-based products.
