PEFC Celebrates Their 20th Anniversary

On the 30th of June 2019, PEFC celebrated their 20th anniversary.

In 1999 a group of European small-forest owners came together to create an international forest certification system & so subsequently PEFC was born.

Celebrate with PEFC

Over the course of the next 12 months, PEFC will also celebrate with a series of articles.

The first of these in July is PEFC – the early years.

They will also launch their #myPEFCmoment campaign later this year. You are all invited to participate in this event. If you see the PEFC label on a product, take a photo and share it on social media with the hashtag #myPEFCmoment.

PEFC forest certification week will also take place in November. As part of this, they will be looking into the future to see where the next 20 years will take them.

For up to date news/information on this go to the PEFC UK website.

What is PEFC?

PEFC stands for Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.

They are an international independent organisation who promotes sustainable forest management through independent third party certification.

Furthermore, PEFC Chain of Custody works to encourage good practices within forests. This ensures that timber and pulp products are produced to the highest standard, whilst respecting the environment and people who live in these forests.
