Introduction

Interface NRM, a leading certification body in the UK, proudly operates as an Employee Owned Trust (EOT). This business model not only empowers our employees but also creates a sense of community and collective responsibility. At Interface NRM, our EOT structure is more than just an ownership model, it is a commitment to creating a collaborative and inclusive workplace that benefits both our employees and clients.

Decision making

One of the standout examples of our EOT structure in action, is our choice in the Annual Golf Day Event held on the 18th June. This year, an impressive £6300 was raised for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, with 100% of the funds raised contributing to their missions, which attended to 286 incidents attended to in June alone. What makes this initiative particularly special, is the decision to support the charity which was made collectively by our employees, a lot of whom are bikers or outdoor enthusiasts. Collective decisions like this, highlights the strength of employee ownership in driving meaningful decisions and community support.

Open communication channels

At Interface NRM, we understand the importance of having open communication, and allowing employees to voice their opinions to foster continuous improvement. To make this easier and more approachable, we have established monthly meetings where EOT members sit in a dedicated meeting room for an hour. During this time, all employees have the opportunity to confidentially voice their opinions, share messages, ideas and feedback. This ensures that everyone in the business feels like they have a voice that will be heard, and also allows innovative ideas to be implemented for the benefit the business.

Healthy living initiatives

At Interface NRM employee well bring is a top priority. One way that we do this is through healthy eating. Every week we provide fresh fruit to the office, the selection being decided by our employees. This creates a sense of inclusion, allowing our employees to feel involved and catered to. This not only encourages healthy eating habits throughout the day, but also boosts motivation and energy levels in the office.

Mental health and team bonding

Recognising the importance of mental health, we are in the process of establishing weekly or daily walking groups. These breaks will allow employees to step away from their desks, enjoy some fresh air, and engage in physical activity. The goal of this is to help bring a sense of community to the business, ensuring that everyone feels included and supported. It also allows for employees to clear their minds of any stressful situations that they have encountered, outside of or at work. This step away from work promotes good physical and mental well-being, and aims to create a more positive and productive work environment.

Continuous feedback and improvement

Our commitment to employee involvement goes beyond formal meetings and events. We are open to taking constant feedback and opinions from our employees, to drive continuous improvement in the business. Whether it’s through informal conversations, anonymous surveys, or suggestion boxes, we ensure that there are multiple ways our employees can voice their opinions. This feedback not only allows employees to feel included and valuable, but it also helps improve our operations.

Conclusion

Being an EOT owned company has helped transform Interface NRM into an organisation where every employee feels values, empowered and as though they have a voice that matters. The initiatives that we have implemented not only demonstrates our commitment to the well-being of our employees, but also the success of the business. As we continue to grow, we will remain as dedicated as ever to creating an environment of collaboration, innovation and shared success.
