This week has seen a rise in requests for Health & Safety Certification, particularly in the Cleaning Industry.
This was mainly due to requests through tender documents and pre-qualification questionnaires. Subsequently meaning that any company applying must demonstrate compliance within this area.
What is OHSAS 18001 Certification?
OHSAS 18001, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series is a British Standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
If compliant, it enables an organisation to demonstrate that they have a system in place to monitor and record occupational health and safety in their organisation.
What is the difference between OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001?
BS OHSAS 18001:2007 is being replaced by ISO 45001, which was published in March 2018.
Furthermore, organisations certified to BS OHSAS 18001 should migrate to ISO 45001 by March 2021 if they wish to retain a recognised certification.
Additionally, any organisation certified against OHSAS 18001 with Interface NRM, will automatically transition over to the new ISO 45001 standard, by March 2021.
Integrating OHSAS 18001 with your ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001
OHSAS 18001:2007 is more closely aligned with the structures of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 so that organisations can more easily adopt OHSAS 18001 alongside their existing management system.
