Over their nearly fifty years of trade they have become a chartered building company and have built up experience in a wide variety of sectors, including: Education, healthcare, industrial and commercial. Now, Burmor Construction specialises in the design and construction of affordable housing projects. Because of their incredible commitment they are proudly the SME sector leader in social value, with every affordable housing project measured to, and exceeding, national standards for social value contribution. Having grown to turnover in excess of £40m per year, their affordable housing specialism includes: land sourcing, concept design and obtaining planning permission, technical design, construction and aftercare.

The process of becoming triple ISO certified
Achieving ISO certifications is often about clearly documenting your procedures and records. This sounds like extra work, but instead it brings consistency and efficiency. We asked Burmor Constructions if there was anything about the certification process that stood out to them, and they made this very point. They said they liked the emphasis on documentation and consistency. As a previously small business, they often operated on informal processes, with tasks being done because people knew how and not because it was formalised or written down. So, when becoming certified they realised that ISO certification required them to clearly document their procedures and records. Burmor construction said that, “This felt overwhelming to begin with and felt like extra work, but it brought consistency and has reduced dependence on a few key employees.”
Yes, becoming ISO certified may mean slight adjustments, but they bring discipline, transparency, and pride to teams. Whether it’s quality, safety, or sustainability, every audit uncovers opportunities to grow. It’s not about ticking boxes — it’s about raising standards.
