FSC® trademark update Quarter 3 2020
I have just been reading through the FSC® trademark update Quarter 3 2020 for Certification Bodies. It contains some interesting information that I thought I would share with you all.
New FSC® materials
They have firstly developed new materials for industries involved with FSC® Certification. These include Textiles, Construction, Packaging, and also Furniture.
These are all very informative documents and are definitely worth a read. The new brochures can be found at the following links:
FSC® Label Generator
In August FSC® held a webinar about the use of the FSC® label generator.
We always find that you can never have enough knowledge where trademark usage is concerned. The webinar is about 15 minutes long and contains some really valuable information about the importance of using the labels.
Q & A
In the Q & A Section in this quarter is a question about the trademark being used on a patterned background. This is a question which the logo approvers at Interface have pondered about on more than one occasion. So hopefully you will also find this of use
Question: Is it required to add a ‘fade out’ zone around the label (see picture right) to comply with the exclusion zone requirement (clause 8.10 of FSC-STD-50-001 V2-0)?
Answer: While the ‘fade out’ zone around the FSC label (see picture right) is allowed, it is certainly not required. The FSC label is not transparent in this case, thus the background does not interfere with the design of the label. There are no other elements within the ‘exclusion zone’ around the label, therefore the FSC label stays uncluttered.
